Paddle Battles Open was created with one goal in mind, to build the kind of tournament players actually want to compete in. As Pickleball continues to grow, so does the love for tournament play, but many players feel there aren’t enough high quality events with strong competition and meaningful payouts. Paddle Battles Open was started to help fill that gap by hosting tournaments more frequently, offering larger prize pools, and partnering with some of the best venues possible. The goal is to create an exciting, well run tournament experience that players look forward to and expect to compete in. A place where competition is high, the atmosphere is great, and every event truly feels worth showing up for.
DUPR
- Matches from this tournament will NOT be recorded in DUPR, with the exception of the DUPR 6.5 division. All completed matches in the DUPR 6.5 division will be recorded in DUPR.
- All divisions have a .30 buffer.
- The first number after the decimal point is used for DUPR calculation
(Example: 3.456 would be rated as 3.4)
- Players’ DUPRs are locked at the time of registration. Once one player registers and lists their teammates, all listed teammates’ DUPRs are locked at that time as well.
- If you do not have a DUPR and are Non-Rated, you will be assigned either your partner’s DUPR or the average of your partners’ DUPRs before any reductions are applied. If eligible, women and 50+ players will then receive the applicable reduction after the assigned DUPR is determined.
- Players with low DUPR reliability scores may have their rating adjusted at the sole discretion
of Paddle Battles Open to ensure fair and competitive play. This may include an increase in rating
if a player’s displayed DUPR is determined to be inaccurate
- Any team that wins the same division twice may not compete in that same division again
with the same partner(s)
Minimum Team Requirement
Events must meet a minimum number of teams to be played. Doubles events (teams of 2) and Singles events require at least 6 teams. Team events (teams of 4) require at least 4 teams. If these minimums are not met, the event may be canceled and all registered players will receive a refund.
Refunds
Refund requests must be requested no later than 10 days before the tournament's first event. All approved refunds are subject to a non-refundable $5 processing fee. Once registration closes, all registrations are final, and no refunds, credits, or transfers to future tournaments will be issued. Players may change partners up to 48 hours before their registered event, provided the replacement partner meets all division eligibility requirements. If a registered partner is replaced, the originally registered player is not eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer.
DUPR Manipulation & Competitive Integrity Policy
Paddle Battles Open reserves the right to deny entry, move teams to a higher division, disqualify teams, withhold partial or full prize payouts, and/or issue suspensions or bans to any player found to have intentionally manipulated, misrepresented, or tampered with their DUPR rating or playing level in any way. This includes, but is not limited to, deleting DUPR accounts, creating new accounts to lower ratings, intentionally logging illegitimate matches, falsifying match results, or any other actions deemed by tournament staff to provide an unfair competitive advantage. First offenses may result in suspension from Paddle Battles Open events for up to 60 days. Second offenses may result in a permanent ban from all future Paddle Battles Open events. Tournament staff decisions regarding division eligibility, suspensions, disqualifications, and payouts are final.
DIVISION ELIGIBILITY & RATING REVIEW POLICY
Paddle Battles Open reserves the right to review and determine the appropriate division eligibility of every player and team. A player’s displayed DUPR does not automatically guarantee eligibility for a division. When a displayed rating appears to materially underrepresent a player’s current ability, Paddle Battles Open may assign an adjusted tournament eligibility rating, require the player or team to compete in a higher division, or deny entry in order to protect fair and competitive play. Eligibility reviews may consider, without limitation, DUPR reliability, match history, recent performance, prior tournament results, observed playing ability, partner history, rating trends, and other credible information available to tournament staff. Self-entered, unverified, unusually scored, or recently added matches, including matches entered shortly before registration, may be given reduced or no consideration when determining division eligibility, particularly when those results cause a player or team to narrowly fall below a division cap. These decisions will be used only when tournament staff reasonably believes a displayed rating does not accurately represent a player’s current level or that allowing the entry would create a substantial competitive imbalance. Adjustments apply only to eligibility for Paddle Battles Open events and do not alter a player’s official DUPR. Adjusted ratings may only increase a player’s eligibility rating and may never be used to allow a player or team whose applicable rating exceeds a division cap. All eligibility decisions made by Paddle Battles Open are final.
